Get Out And Learn is a non-profit organization, a project of the Tides Center.

GOAL is housed by the Tides Center and uses the its 501c3 nonprofit designation to accept charitable donations.

The Tides Center acts as the “back office” for GOAL, doing all the nonprofit paperwork (and taxes!) necessary for GOAL to be a charitable organization.

Donating to Get Out And Learn

Send a check directly to our account at Tides. This guarantees that your donation has the biggest impact.

Checks can be made out to Get Out and Learn/Tides Center, and sent to Get Out and Learn c/o Tides Center P.O. Box 29907 San Francisco, CA 94129-0907.

Tides has a partnership with Network for Good to accept online donations. Network for Good charges a 3% fee for this service.

The Tides Center donation page is very generic. Make sure you click on the Project menu and select Get Out & Learn before you hit send.

  •  Company Match. Many employers offer a matching gift program, please be sure to check in with your company’s matching gift policy to see if you can amplify your gift.
  • Contact us for more information about giving stock or real property to GOAL.
  • All donations to Get Out and Learn are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Gear Donations

  • We outfit our students to be safe and comfortable in the backcountry. Consider donating new or used gear such as hiking boots, MSR whisperlite stoves, backpacking sleeping bags (15 degrees or less), rain gear, clothing, socks, gloves and other outdoor equipment.

Ongoing Program Support 

—  Get Out and Learn will be on hiatus for the fall semester of 2015.

—  Downtown High School teachers and administration are already working on a plan to re-open the program in the spring of 2016.
